Viernes Santo
El Viernes Santo es un día de importancia cardinal en México, un día en el que todo México conmemora la pasión y muerte de Jesucristo. En San Miguel de Allende Susan y yo hemos sido testigos varias veces de la procesión que se origina en el Oratorio de San Felipe Neri (que data de 1712) y llega a su fin en El Jardín frente a La Parroquia (la iglesia parroquial de San Miguel construida en 1683). La procesión está claramente dominada por el color púrpura, el color de la Cuaresma y las pesadas estatuas de tamaño natural, llevadas por hombres y mujeres. Las mujeres a menudo usan zapatos con tacones de 2” para aumentar sus dificultades. Adjunto algunas imágenes que reuní con gran respeto.
Good Friday
Good Friday is a day of cardinal importance in Mexico, a day when all of Mexico commemorates the passion and death of Jesus Christ. In San Miguel de Allende Susan and I have witnessed several times the procession that originates from the Oratorio de San Felipe Neri (which dates from 1712) and comes to an end in El Jardin in front of the La Parroquia (the parish church of San Miguel built in 1683). The procession is unmistakably dominated by the color purple, the color of lent , and ponderous life-sized statues, shouldered by both men and women. The women often wear shoes with 2” heels to increase their hardship. I attach some images which I gathered with great respect.
