Entrada de los Xúchiles

Esta ceremonia de origen indígena data de 1531, cuando los capitanes e indios chichimecas ya evangelizaron, lucharon contra sus propios hermanos raciales para sacarlos de la idolatría y conducirlos hacia la fe cristiana.

Este momento histórico es recordado cada año, con la entrada de los Xúchiles y las almas en honor a todos los antepasados que cayeron en esta batalla por la conquista de la religión cristiana.

Xuchiles son ofrendas funerarias en forma de flores y cactus de unos dos metros de ancho y la altura de un edificio de planta y media. Son intrínsecas a las celebraciones de Chichimeca (cazadores recolectores indígenas) del homónimo de la ciudad, St. Miguel Arcángel, fiesta en San Miguel de Allende.

Traditional entrance of Xúchiles

This ceremony of indigenous origin dates from 1531, when Chichimeca captains and Indians already evangelized, fought against their own racial brothers to get them out of idolatry and lead them towards the Christian faith.

This historical moment is remembered every year, with the entry of the Xúchiles and the souls in honor of all the ancestors who fell in this battle for the conquest of the Christian religion.

Xuchiles are funeral offerings in the form of flowers and cacti about two meters wide and the height of a story-and-a- half building. They are intrinsic to the Chichimeca (indigenous hunter gatherers) celebrations of the town’s namesake, St. Michael the Archangel’s, feast day in San Miguel de Allende.
